Candy Corn Muddy Buddies
Whether you call them Candy Corn Muddy Buddies or Candy Corn Puppy Chow, this no bake fall dessert is guaranteed to be a hit!
Candy Corn Puppy Chow Recipe
Alright, so candy corn itself can be pretty polarizing but I think we can all agree that those cute little candies are a fall staple.
Whether you chose to include candy corn in your candy corn Chex mix, or just use the yellow, orange and white color palette, this dessert will still have a candy corn theme to it. I personally think it’s super cute to add them in and if people don’t like candy corn, they can just pick them out of their serving.
Usually, muddy buddies are made with a mixture of melted chocolate and peanut butter before coating them in powdered icing sugar – and they are notoriously addictive!
This version instead relies on orange, yellow and white candy melts to achieve it’s fun colors before being coated in powdered icing sugar, but is still absolutely delicious. It will be one of the first desserts to disappear from your dessert table!
This is also a great recipe to have the kids help make – my daycare kids LOVE helping shake up the bag of powdered sugar after we add the candy-coated cereal. (And they usually sneak a couple taste tests in, too!)
How long do muddy buddies last? If stored in a covered container or ziptop bag at room temperature, these muddy buddies will stay fresh for one week.
Do I have to use Chex cereal to make puppy chow? No, but I personally think it is the best option for making this recipe. You can opt for their Rice or Gluten-free version, if that is a concern. If you can’t find Chex locally, you can use Crispx or Shreddies cereals for a similar result, or change things up and use Captain Crunch or Cheerios!
This no bake dessert mix is perfect for parties, movie nights, or even a classroom treat if you package up 1/3 cup portions in cute festive cellophane bags. These candy corn bags would be perfect!
