Pumpkin Pie Dip Recipe

Ella is the big pumpkin fan in our house. We just got back from the grocery store and she snuck not one but THREE giant cans of pumpkin puree into the cart.

(Apparently, she has plans for each and every one.)

She loves getting to bake and cook whenever possible, and considering she’s the one who is most likely to eat the pumpkin desserts, I love when we can create a delicious recipe for her to whip up independently.

This pumpkin pie dip only uses 3 or 4 ingredients, and is super light and flavourful – like a crustless pumpkin pie a la mode.

We love serving our pumpkin pie dip with vanilla wafers, but it would also be delicious with chocolate cookies, pretzels, graham crackers, apple slices or lady finger biscuits. You can also serve it as a parfait with layers of crushed cookies or pretzels.

Most recently, Ella made this recipe for a playdate and was so proud to serve it to her guests. It’s a great party recipe because it can be made a couple days in advance and the taste just gets better as it sets up in the fridge. As long as your guests are pumpkin fans, this pumpkin pie dip is sure to be a hit!

The optional cream cheese in this recipe can be added to make the dip richer, thicker and a bit tangy. Leaving out the cream cheese allows for a light dip that is more pumpkin-forward in flavor.

For a protein-rich pumpkin pie dip, swap out the whipped topping/Cool Whip for Greek yogurt. The dip will be less sweet and more tangy, but still delicious.

This pumpkin pie dip is best enjoyed within one week of making. I personally find that the flavor intensifies after at least a day of refrigerating so it’s a great recipe to make in advance if you’re planning to serve it for a party or at Thanksgiving.

Can you freeze this pumpkin pie dip? Personally, I don’t recommend it as the texture will change after freezing, if you do use the cream cheese it can become grainy and without the cream cheese it will become slightly watery, but it will still be flavorful.
