Honey-Glazed Chicken Kebabs Recipe

Okay, so it’s no secret around here that I have a bit of a sweet tooth – and who says that sweetness can only apply to desserts?!

For our recent Winnie the Pooh movie night, I wanted to make a honey-glazed chicken recipe, but nothing super messy or sticky for enjoying while watching a movie in the living room (nothing ruins movie night faster than mom freaking out because honey is smeared all over the couch…)

My daughter has also been on a real peach kick recently which has lead me to start buying the giant 5lb boxes of peaches (well, giant considering it’s just two people in this family!) so I’ve been having some fun experimenting with new peach recipes like my Maple Peach Chia Jam or Homemade Peach Vodka. Naturally, it was only a matter of time before the peaches worked their way into our supper!

These honey-glazed peach-chicken kebabs were the perfect option for our family movie night. They are flavorful with a kid-friendly kick from a dash of cajun seasoning and sweet from the addition of caramelized peaches and a generous glazing of honey. I also snuck a decent amount of veggies onto the kebabs!

My daughter went crazy for these kebabs! She loved how the veggies turned out but ironically picked out all the peaches and asked for me to cut up a “normal peach” for her to have with her meal. She even asked if I could send some of the chicken and veggies to school the next day in her thermos – so I’m going to go ahead and call that a win.

The cajun seasoning added just enough flavor without adding heat or spiciness so don’t be afraid to add it – and if your kids like spice, feel free to increase how much you add. I also found that the kebabs absorbed the honey so they weren’t messy, but I would have some napkins or wipes on hand just in case. While the kebabs weren’t drippy or messy, if your child uses their fingers to remove the food from the kebabs then things could get a bit sticky!

Of course, you could always skip the skewers and throw all of the ingredients for this kebab recipe into a foil pack – the flavors will mostly work out the same, you just won’t get that charred grill effect on the chicken.

We also made Edible Honey Slime for our Winnie the Pooh movie night – a great slime for mixed age groups and a perfect tie-in for our movie night. (And hey, you’ve got the honey out already…)

How to Make Honey-Glazed Chicken Skewers

Cover a cookie sheet with tin foil and set aside.

Soak the wooden skewers in water as you season the chicken and chop your zucchini and peaches. This is to prevent them from burning while cooking.

Cut the chicken into 1″ pieces and place in a bowl.

Season the chicken with the cajun seasoning, salt and pepper.

Chop the zucchini into at least 1/4″ thickness and cut the peaches to at least 1″ thickness.

Thread the zucchini, peaches and chicken onto your skewers in any pattern that you’d like.

Place the skewers on the foil-lined cookie sheet and turn oven to broil.

Drizzle the oil over the skewers and place in the oven. Cook under the broiler for 5 minutes.

Remove the kebabs from the oven, flip and brush with 1-2 Tablespoons honey. Return to oven to broil an additional 5 minutes, until the chicken reaches a minimum internal temperature of 165F.

Remove the kebabs from the oven and drizzle with remaining honey.*

*Alternatively, you can serve the honey on the side for dipping.
