Pink French 77 Cocktail Recipe using Sparkling Wine
I love love love Elderflower.
I just shared our Lemon Elderflower Cake, and couldn’t resist the desire to follow it up with this delicious, tart, sweet and bubbly Elderflower cocktail.
This sparkling cocktail was perfect for our Rapunzel-themed movie night. I made Ella a mocktail version with just elderflower cordial and sparkling water (and a drop of pink food dye to make it look as pretty as mine). She also made these super cute flower picks to adorn our glasses, and they had the added benefit of keeping the alcoholic version straight from the non-alcoholic version.
This is a great cocktail for a classy night with friends, Sunday brunch, or a fresh summer cocktail while you’re outside enjoying some sun.

What’s the difference between a French 77 and a French 75? A French 75 is a mix of Champagne, gin, lemon and simple syrup. A French 77 swaps the elderflower liqueur in for the gin and replaces the need for simple syrup as the elderflower liqueur is so sweet.
What kind of champagne is best for a French 77 cocktail? Since you are making this into a mixed cocktail, I personally am not going to use champagne – but obviously if that’s in your budget, go for it! I use a nice Vouvray or Sparkling Wine for this cocktail.
Can I use elderflower cordial in place of St Germaine? Yes, you can skip using a second alcohol entirely, or use a lemon or plain vodka to keep the same amount of alcohol content.
Can I skip the lemon? The lemon adds acidity and helps balance out the cocktail with tartness, but can be skipped if you are using a very dry champagne/sparkling wine.
How do I make a pitcher of French 77? Combine 1 cup Elderflower Liqueur with 1/4 cup lemon juice or lemon vodka, then top with 2 cups sparkling wine or champagne. Note that the champagne will lose it’s effervescent quality the longer the pitcher sits out.
