Baked Honey Garlic Pork Chops Recipe
Pork chops are one of those underrated protein choices that I seem to always forget about when meal planning.
It’s not until I’m at the grocery store and see an amazing price on pork chops that I remember, oh yeah, I’ve got so many good pork chops recipes – why don’t we eat them more often?! They are delicious and such a budget saver!
One of my family’s favorites is this baked honey garlic pork chops recipe with homemade honey garlic sauce. This sauce is super simple to make and I love that I can customize it easily to suite our tastes as I find a lot of pre-jarred honey garlic sauce too salty or too sweet. (Just call me Goldilocks.) You might want to make your own adjustments to our recipe to make this honey garlic sauce perfect for you.
I tend to always double the sauce when making this recipe and refrigerate it to use again. Believe me, you will be craving it again soon after enjoying these pork chops!
If you always tend to overcook pork chops, one way to offset that is to marinate your pork chops before cooking. For this recipe, you can marinate the pork chops in a mixture of beef broth, soy sauce and a bit of garlic – or even just beef broth. But personally, I prefer to just use a meat thermometer to avoid overcooking.
This is the meat thermometer I have been using for the past 6 years – I’ve never had to change a battery and it’s super sturdy and reliable. It was a bit pricey, but unlike the $15 models that you can buy, this one isn’t going to need replacement. It is waterproof and comes with a two-year warranty. (Thermoworks also has a $15 pocket-sized model if you want to try that out first before investing in the MK4.)

How to Make Baked Honey Garlic Pork Chops
In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the beef broth, soy sauce, honey and brown sugar.
Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, then add the garlic and ginger. Continue to cook for 2 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup hot water plus 2 Tablespoons of the cornstarch to form a “slurry.” (This will be used to thicken the sauce.)
Whisk the slurry into the honey garlic sauce and increase the heat to high, bringing to a boil for 2 minute, stirring occasionally.
Reduce the honey garlic sauce to medium heat and simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
While the honey garlic sauce is simmering, season both sides of your pork chops with white pepper, ground ginger and garlic powder.
Place the remaining 1/2 cup cornstarch in a shallow bowl and dredge each pork chop in the cornstarch, coating both sides and shaking off any excess.
Place the peanut oil in a skillet over medium heat and once hot, add the pork chops.
Cook the pork chops until browned on both sides and an inserted meat thermometer reads 160F, this should take about 4-5 minutes per side.
Set your oven to broil.
Spoon the honey garlic sauce over the pork chops, about 2-3 Tablespoons per pork chop, and place the skillet under the broiler for 2-3 minutes. Broiling will thicken the sauce and finish the browning process.
