Butterbeer Latte Recipe
The perfect cozy cup of coffee to enjoy while curled up in a blanket reading, or during a Harry Potter movie night, today’s Butterbeer Latte is super simple to make at home and absolutely scrumptious.
This velvety latte is sweet, creamy and rich with notes of toffee, nuts and caramel swirled into the milky espresso with perfectly steamed, frothy milk.
This is a copycat version of the Starbucks Secret Menu Butterbeer Latte, not a espresso-spiked take on the hot Butterbeer sold at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios.
Butterbeer Latte Variations:
- add a tablespoon of butter
- (or a teaspoon of butter flavor extract)
- add a shot of alcohol, like Bailey’s, Kahlua or rum
- add toffee bits or a sprinkle of cinnamon to the top

How to Order a Butterbeer Latte at Starbucks
Ask for a grande latte with 2 pumps of caramel and 2 pumps of toffee nut (or English toffee) syrup. You can also ask for extra caramel drizzle around the cup and whipped cream on top.
How to Make Homemade Toffee Nut Coffee Syrup
If you cannot find toffee nut syrup, toast 1/2 cup of pecans and then add to a saucepan with 1 cup of brown sugar and 1 cup of water over medium heat. Bring to a simmer, then reduce to medium-low and reduce liquid by half. Store in a cool spot in your kitchen.

The tip about making homemade toffee nut syrup is a lifesaver! I couldn’t find any at my local store, but the pecan and brown sugar substitute worked perfectly. It actually tastes a bit richer than the store-bought versions. Perfect for my Harry Potter rewatch tonight.
This butterbeer latte looks so cozy! I love making themed drinks at home. Speaking of fun activities, I found a great reaction time test to challenge my reflexes while sipping coffee.
