Avocado Ranch Dressing (with Video)
I love using my homemade Ranch seasoning to make ranch dip, but my daughter’s favorite has to be this Avocado Ranch Dip – it’s zesty, creamy and perfect for dipping veggies or even using as a salad dressing!
Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing Recipe
I’m not a fan of store-bought ranch dressing packets.
I don’t love the cost at $2 a pop, but there are also questionable ingredients like maltodextrin (the FIRST ingredient in the most popular ranch dressing packet) which is justified as a preservative but has some serious health risks, monosodium glutamine (MSG), calcium stearate (more health risks), etc. Plus, if you’re buying pre-made ranch dressing or ranch dips, they often contain sugar or high-fructose corn syrup.
Isn’t the whole point of giving your child some veggies and ranch dip to be offering them a healthy snack? Not sneak extra sugar into their day?
Thankfully, this avocado ranch dip has amazing flavor, healthy fats (to help your body process all the nutrients from those veggies) and kids love it! The avocado adds a rich, buttery flavor and texture, while the ranch adds zesty and savory seasonings and the lime adds a hit of acidity (that also helps prevent the avocado from browning).
This dip will keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. It’s perfect for lunch prepping and it’s great to have a healthy, homemade ranch dip ready to go for easy snacking.
Plus, you can add additional oil (or even some Greek yogurt, if you’d like) to make this into an avocado ranch dressing.
We’ve used this ranch recipe as both a ranch dressing on salads and a ranch dip for veggies.
Other Recipes You Could Add this Avocado Ranch Dressing to:
- Cherry Steak Salad
- Use in homemade Chicken Caesar Wraps
- Southwestern Steak Salad
- Mason Jar Cobb Salad
- Healthy Taco Salad
- BLT Salad
- Use as a dip with chicken nuggets or chicken tenders (it would be delicious with our homemade Chickfila Nuggets)
- Add on top of your favorite burger recipe for a Southwestern flairr
- Use to top a plate of nachos
- Toss some freshly boiled pasta in it
- Use as a buttery sandwich spread
- Use in place of mayonnaise when making tuna or chicken salad
Basically, any recipe that you would normally want to add ranch dressing (or could benefit from the pop of flavor from some ranch), this recipe would be perfect!
Can I spice up this avocado lime dressing? Absolutely. A lot of people like adding cilantro to their avocado dressings, but you could go with red chile flakes, chipotle pepper, homemade taco seasoning, etc.
Do I need to use fresh avocados for dressing? You can use frozen avocados, or even avocados that are just starting to brown (as long as they don’t have an acidic taste). Keep in mind that the fresher your avocados, the longer you can keep this dressing in the fridge.
Can I leave out the avocado? The avocado takes the place of other fats (like mayonnaise) in this recipe, so if you’d prefer a standard ranch dressing without the avocado flavor, substitute 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, or 1/4 cup Greek yogurt and 1/4 cup mayonnaise.
