Aladdin-inspired Vase Craft for Kids
A fun Aladdin craft for kids, these DIY Moroccan-style Vases are super easy for kids to make for some Disney-themed room decor or as a pretty gift.
DIY Kid Vase Craft
For her 5th birthday, Ella requested a “Jasmine themed birthday party” after falling in love with Aladdin at Disney World and playing the soundtrack nonstop for months.
I love throwing crazy, elaborate birthday parties (check out our Mermaid Birthday Party, Moana Birthday Party or Royal Wedding Birthday Party for evidence) and try to DIY as much as possible to make them special, unique and (somewhat) budget-friendly.
For our Jasmine party, we went with a light Arabian theme filled with jewel tones of pink, purple and teal. While it was easy to find party decor in our chosen color scheme, it was a bit trickier to find items that perfectly fit the “Arabian”/Jasmine theme, so we decided to add some fun touches to plain items – like these pretty glass vases from the Dollar Tree.
Kids can use this same method to add a variety of designs to glass vases:
- They could spell out a special message
- They could add hearts to a special Valentine’s Day vase
- Make a rainbow design
- Add a unicorn or other favorite animal
We didn’t seal our vases and they have lasted for 3 years now without flaking or fading, so while I’m going to include that as an optional step in the craft directions, please know that it’s not necessary unless the brand of paint you are using absolutely requires setting.
After the party, Ella kept one of the vases and gave the others away as gifts. It’s a pretty addition to her princess-themed bedroom and also serves as a special reminder of the party.

DIY Moroccan Vases Materials
- Glass vases

- Moroccan-design stencils
- Sponge paint brushes <– also called stipplers or pouncers
- Tray for the paint
I highly recommend grabbing a couple of these sturdy plastic lunch trays (we have one in the pictures in this post). I use these for almost all of our craft or kitchen activities, as well as in our Montessori practical life activities. Ours have lasted for over 6 years and are still going strong, plus they are so great for containing messes and allowing the kids to set a project to the side while it dries (or if you have to clear off the table for supper).
How to Make Princess Jasmine Vases
Clean and dry your vase completely.
Tape or stick the stencil onto the glass. (If your stencil doesn’t have a sticky back, you can spray some spray adhesive to the back and press on a clean surface to reduce the stickiness before pressing onto the glass.)
Using only a small amount of paint, use your dabbler/sponge brush to gently dab paint over the stencil design.
When the design has been fully covered in an even and light coat of paint, gently remove the stencil.
Wash the stencil before applying to a second vase or craft.
Allow the paint to dry for 24 hours. If desired, use a paint sealer or mod podge to protect the design.
