Black Cherry Float for Grown-ups
If you hadn’t noticed by now, I have a habit of adding ice cream to my cocktails (ahem, my Root Beer Float Cocktail or my Champagne Floats). Part of being a grown-up is that you shouldn’t have to choose whether you want a drink or dessert! So, in the spirit of all things great about being an adult, I bring you this delicious and decadent Black Cherry Float Cocktail.
I first shared this Black Cherry Float cocktail recipe on my friend, Amanda’s site.
Black Cherry soda is one of my few indulgences. I don’t have one very often but every once in awhile I buy a bottle as a treat… okay, and I always have to order it if I see it on the menu while we’re out for lunch!
I don’t know why it’s become such a niche flavor; it’s sooo incredibly tasty, I’d be shocked if someone said they didn’t love it but maybe that’s my nostalgia talking.
I guess being a bit rare (and served up in a vintage glass bottle) makes it that much more special – and this black cherry float is definitely a special treat!
It’s pretty simple – just black cherry soda, vodka and ice cream – making it the perfect low-key addition to a backyard BBQ or a night in with friends or family. A cocktail float is one of my favorite ways to have my dessert and drink it, too!
During the summer you might have some luck finding black cherry coolers, so feel free to swap that in for the black cherry soda and skip the cocktail mixing – but I’m more of a fan of the soda than any cooler I’ve come across.
Tip: I often order my liquor from Drizly because they have a quick delivery time (sometimes within 40 minutes) and no expensive mark-ups. Purchasing from them supports local retailers, too. You can order the Vodka or Black Cherry Coolers needed for this recipe from them.
