Kid-made Jasmine Tank Party Craft
One of the favorite party activities from our Jasmine and Aladdin Birthday Party was making our own DIY Jamine Tank Tops. Whether you’re making it as a fun party goody gift or just looking for a cheap and cheerful Disney craft for the summer, kids will love getting to decorate and wear their own Jasmine Tank Tops.
DIY Jasmine Tank Top Craft
Whenever I’m planning our over-the-top but on-a-budget birthday parties, I try to plan party activities that double as goody bag gifts.
It helps stretch the budget and the kids are so excited to get to bring home their creations as a reminder of all of the fun they had at the party.
I hate sending kids home with a bag full of candy or plastic toys that are going to break within a day, and I’ve found that being a bit creative with how we approach our goody gifts ends up costing me the same amount if not less money than if I was to fill up a goody bag with junk.
Each tank top came to less than $4 each – and if my Dollar Tree had fabric dye (which I’ve heard that some do) it would have ended up costing me even less.
Even though we made these as a party activity, I also think they’d be great for a sleepover, a fun movie night activity, or just a unique option for the kids to customize their own summer clothes. They don’t have to be Princess Jasmine-inspired, dye the fabric and choose embellishments inspired by your child’s favorite princess.
We washed our tank top inside out and it lasted my daughter for several months before she stained it beyond recognition. The acrylic gems might fall off, but you can just attach new ones since you’ve bought a bag of them anyways!
She was always so proud to wear her creation to the park or out on errands and answer questions from people asking if she made her shirt herself.
The girls all came up with unique designs for their tank tops and you could even use fabric paint and stampers to make even more unique designs. (I didn’t set those out at the party because they are kind of pricey and I knew they’d get completely used up in a party setting.)

Materials Needed to Make Jasmine Tank Tops
- Undershirts
- Teal Fabric Dye
- Purple Fabric Dye
- Acrylic Jewels
- Gold Sequin Ribbon
- Teal Ribbon
- Scissors <– these are the ones we have and they have lasted for years in our daycare, and unlike some other safety scissors – they actually cut things!
- Fabric Glue
Tip: you can also use fabric paint and even add in paint stampers to make designs on your shirts.
How to Make Jasmine Tank Tops
Follow the package directions on your dye to dye the tank tops.
Allow them to dry completely before setting up the craft.
Set out all of the craft materials and encourage the kids to decorate their tank tops however they’d like.
Follow the directions on the fabric glue to ensure you let the tank tops dry as long as needed before allowing the children to wear and show off their creations.
