Nightmare Before Christmas Cricut Craft

What better way to enjoy your pumpkin spice than with a coffee cup bearing the Pumpkin King himself?!

This cute Nightmare Before Christmas Coffee Cup is the perfect way to show off your love for the Tim Burton classic – or it makes a great gift for the NBC fan in your life!

Now, I’ll be honest – I’ve been to Starbucks only a handful of times since I bought my espresso maker, but I have friends who hit their drive-thru daily. Popping a Starbucks gift card into one of these cups would be such a sweet and unexpected gift. I also think these would be a fun goodie gift for a Halloween party or a fun addition to a Boo basket.

While we incorporated the Starbucks logo into our design, if you wanted to use a non-branded tumbler, you could use that empty space to write your friend’s name as a special personalized touch.

Tips to Make Your Cricut Coffee Cup Design Last

First, you want to make sure there are no air bubbles in the vinyl when you are done making this craft. Take your time with the scraper tool in pushing out those air bubbles and don’t hesitate to use your fingers to help smooth out the design.

If you’re using a cup with a cloudy design like our tumbler, rubbing Isopropyl Alcohol over the finished design (using a cotton pad) can help set and seal your design. However, if you’re using a clear tumbler, this can chemically “scratch” the plastic, causing a cloudy effect.

And finally, I always hand wash these cups. It won’t ruin the design if they accidentally end up in the dishwasher one or two times, but it’s best to hand wash to prevent the steam dry setting from peeling the design.

Remove the black vinyl from the mat and replace with the white vinyl.

Select to cut just the white layer in Design Space.

Cut and weed both layers. Layer the white vinyl over the black vinyl design. (Transfer tape will be very helpful in this step as the white vinyl design is very intricate.)

Once all of the white vinyl layers are laid over the black vinyl, cover the entire design with transfer tape and use the scraper tool to ensure that all pieces of the design attach to the tape.

Transfer the design to your coffee cup, lining up the empty circle in Jack’s hand to the Starbucks logo.

Use the scraper to press the design securely to the cup, working from the centre out towards the edges.

Slowly remove the transfer tape, using your weeding tool if needed (if any pieces stick to the tape instead of the cup).

Remove any air bubbles in the design by using the scraper tool or pressing down with your fingers.

If desired, rub the whole design down with isopropyl alcohol.
