Healthy Raspberry Frozen Lemonade
A delicious and refreshing summer drink recipe, this Raspberry Frozen Lemonade is tart, creamy and lip-puckeringly delicious.
Raspberry Frozen Lemonade Recipe
As much as I love Chick Fil A (as evidenced by my copycat recipes for their fried chicken sandwich and those glorious chicken nuggets), I think they missed the mark with their Frosted Lemonade. There’s just something about it that is so off-putting to me, even though I think the concept of a lemonade-ice cream hybrid sounds amazing.
So, we set out to make our own creamy frosted lemonade, and to make things even interesting, we bumped up the flavor with the addition of freshly pureed raspberries.
Not only does this recipe let us skip the drive-thru, it’s also sugar-free and contains a bevy of health benefits thanks to it’s nutritious ingredients, including being a great source of vitamins A and C, fibre and protein.
Store-bought lemonade can seem like an innocent drink offering in the summer, but after checking out the nutritional information for our favorite brand of lemonade, I was shocked to find out that an 8oz glass contained 40g of sugar! In comparison, an 8oz glass of Coca-Cola only has 27g of sugar. Crazy, right? Who would have thought that offering your child a glass of lemonade would be almost twice as much sugar as offering them a can of coke?!
I feel good about offering this frozen lemonade to my daughter. It’s delicious, refreshing and actually healthy!
We’ve made this recipe as both a raspberry lemon smoothie and a frozen raspberry lemonade and Ella was a much bigger fan of the frozen version. I personally prefer this lemonade made with pineapple juice in place of the lemon juice – it tastes like a raspberry dole whip!
I personally leave out the honey when making it for myself, but depending on the sweetness of your berries (and yogurt), you may want to add a little bit.
You can also swap out the raspberries for your preferred frozen fruit or berry. Mango, pineapple, cherry, blueberry, strawberry… I think we’re going to have to try them all.
