Crockpot Chicken Cordon Bleu Recipe
I can’t begin to describe how incredibly satisfying and indulgent this easy crockpot chicken recipe is! It has it all: melted cheese, tender and flavorful stuffing, perfectly cooked chicken, salty bits of ham and a creamy, rich sauce.
It has all of the flavors and components of a chicken cordon bleu without any of the fancy techniques or time investment that an actual chicken cordon bleu takes to make.
What is chicken cordon bleu? A chicken cordon bleu (also known as a chicken swiss) is a chicken breast stuffed with ham and cheese and coated in a crispy breadcrumb coating. Variations can also be made with pork or veal.
This is one of the first recipes I taught my daughter how to make because it is simply so easy and so delicious – anyone would be proud to serve up this tasty recipe and boast that they whipped it up in less than 10 minutes. It’s one of our favorites on busy days when we want to return home to something comforting and flavorful, but don’t have a ton of time to spare in the kitchen.
What to Serve Crockpot Chicken Cordon Blue With:
- a simple green salad
- green beans almondine
- roasted or steamed broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, etc.
- honey roasted carrots
- sauteed spinach
- garlic mashed potatoes
While we often rely on canned cream of chicken soup to make our easy crockpot chicken cordon bleu, I also have an amazing recipe for homemade cream of chicken soup that you can prep ahead for use in this recipe.
I highly recommend opting for low-sodium versions for as many of the ingredients as possible as this dish could easily become overwhelmingly salty if you were to use full-sodium components. For example, I opt for low-sodium cream of chicken soup, low-sodium instant stuffing and unsalted butter.
Can you make this chicken cordon bleu recipe in the Instant Pot? Yes, but to prevent getting a burn notice you will want to add 1/2 cup chicken broth or water along with the milk. Cook on manual pressure for 20 minutes and natural release.

- This is the crockpot that I use the most often – it has a thermoshield which not only prevents little fingers from being burned if the kids touch the outside of the crockpot, but it’s also great for bringing along to potlucks. I also like that I can set the cook time on it, so if we end up taking too long playing outside (or running errands) I don’t have to worry about the food burning.
