Healthy Onion Dip Recipe

If you’ve been a reader of Sugar, Spice & Glitter for a while, you probably already know that Friday nights are family nights at our house!

I take it a bit easier in the kitchen and tend to go for finger food that we can enjoy while sitting around playing board games or watching a movie.

For last week’s movie night, I prepared Dr. Praeger’s Broccoli Littles and Spinach Littles which are basically fun-shaped vegetable nuggets and served them with a homemade onion dip.

All of the ingredients listed on the box are ingredients I already had in my kitchen – broccoli or spinach, potatoes, onions, oil, potato flakes, egg whites, arrowroot powder, sea salt, garlic. They’re also vegetarian and gluten-free.

These are such a fun way to serve vegetables for a casual family night or a party, and of course, fun-shaped nuggets are a great way to get fussy eaters to try new things. My daughter loves spinach so it was easy to get her on board for these, while my nephew was more excited that his vegetables were shaped like dinosaurs!

The onion dip was perfectly seasoned and ready to enjoy in two minutes. It was delicious with the Littles, but it would also pair well with veggies or chips! (I went through 3 cartons of sour cream to perfect this recipe, but feel free to tweak it or add a bit of additional spice if you like.)
