Paper Firework Craft for Kids
A fun twist on our Rocket Straw craft from a few years ago, today’s Paper Fireworks Craft for Kids is a fun and safe way for them to get in on the holiday fun! You can securely attach the straw as a holding stick, or create a double-sided rocket and use the straw to blast it off!
Paper Fireworks Craft
One of the best parts of any summer holiday is the fireworks display at the end of the night.
Ella and her friends always get so excited for it and are constantly asking for a running count down to when the highlight of the night will occur.
This firework craft is a the perfect craft for those kids, to embrace their excitement and give them something fun to do as they patiently wait for the dazzling display.
This time, we just made them as little fireworks on sticks for the kids to whirl around the backyard, but you can turn this into a shooting rocket craft by making two rockets, gluing the top and side edges together and then placing the straw through the bottom.
You could even make these little paper fireworks into cute party decorations by enlarging the printable template to make a banner, make them into drink stirrers by attaching to cocktail sticks, or use them as a cute party invitation by writing the info on the back of the rocket.

Tip: I highly recommend grabbing a couple of these sturdy plastic lunch trays. I use these for almost all of our craft or kitchen activities, as well as in our Montessori practical life activities. Ours have lasted for over 6 years and are still going strong, plus they are so great for containing messes and allowing the kids to set a project to the side while it dries (or if you have to clear off the table for supper).
How to Make a Paper Firecracker
You can either use the template or a free hand drawing of triangle and rectangle. Trace and cut out a triangle, a rectangle, a star and some strips of paper.
Glue the star shape to the middle of the triangular shape.
Apply the glue in diagonal lines on the rectangular shape and then carefully place the paper strips on to the glue.
Attach the star on the middle of the triangle shape. Apply glue on the rectangle shaped paper. I applied the glue in diagonal lines.
Cut off the pieces of the paper strips that reach past the rectangular shape’s border.
Glue the triangle shape to one of the wide-ends of the rectangular shape.
Cut off extra parts (out of the rectangle border) of the strips using scissors.
Allow to dry, then flip the paper firecracker over and cut some thin strips from the scrapbooking paper.
Glue the paper strips to the opposite wide-end of the rectangular shape from the triangular piece.
You can either glue a drinking straw or popsicle stick to the firework now, OR make a second firework and glue the top and side edges together to form a “pocket” for a straw to be inserted into. When you blow into the straw, the firework will shoot off!

My kids loved this craft – super easy and not messy to clean up!
So glad they enjoyed it!
I’m amazed, I have to admit. Rarely do I encounter a blog that’s equally educative and entertaining, and without a doubt, you’ve hit the nail on the head. The issue is something that too few folks are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I came across this in my hunt for something regarding this.
glad to have you.
