Honey Nut Cheerios Balls Recipe
Honey Nut Cheerio Balls are one of those nostalgic childhood treats that I always tend to forget about, but every time I make them they are an absolute hit.
It’s a fun mash-up dessert that is similar to a classic popcorn ball or rice krispie treats. Nutty, cinnamon-y and sweet Honey Nut Cheerios are mixed with melted marshmallows, honey and peanut butter to form a cute, crunchy little ball of deliciousness.
One of my favorite things about this recipe is that once you make it a couple times, you will have the recipe memorized and be able to make it quickly in between kitchen tasks.
My tip for forming these cereal treats into balls is to spray or coat your hands with a bit of cooking oil. You can use water, but I prefer cooking oil. This prevents the mixture from sticking to your hands so you can easily form them into shape with a mess.

- use a different cereal or add another along with the honey nut cheerios
- can be made into squares or granola bars instead
- use a different nut butter or even sunflower butter instead of peanut butter
- use crunchy peanut butter
- use maple syrup instead of honey
How to store Cheerio balls: Our Honey Nut Cheerio Balls can be stored in the fridge for up to a week or at room temperature in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
Can Cheerio Balls be frozen? Yes! Place your Cheerio balls in a ziptop freezer bag or airtight freezer containers and freeze for up to 2 months. (This set of freezer containers is a crazy bargain.)

How to Make Cheerios Balls
Grease a large cookie sheet or cake pan. Set aside.
Place marshmallows, peanut butter and honey in a saucepan.
Heat the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring constantly. When the marshmallows completely melt, remove from heat.
Mix in the Cheerios (or if the pan is too small, place mixture in a large bowl and add Cheerios.
Completely coat the Cheerios in the honey-marshmallow mixture.
Grease a 1 cup measuring cup and portion out the mixture. Roll each cup into a ball and place on the greased cookie sheet.
Place in fridge and let set for 1 hour before serving.
