Lemon Dill Salad Dressing
A fresh and creamy lemon dill salad dressing is the perfect way to add brightness to your favorite summer salads while still feeling indulged.
Lemon Dill Salad Dressing Recipe
Summer seems to be the season of vinaigrettes, and while I do have a couple vinaigrette recipes that I love, sometimes you can’t beat the craving for a rich and creamy salad dressing.
This healthy, homemade salad dressing uses Greek yogurt as a base, which works perfectly with the bright, fresh and tangy flavors of lemon, dill, garlic and onion that help round out this salad dressing. I’m not always a fan of Greek yogurt-based salad dressings, but in this recipe it works deliciously and doesn’t feel at all like a compromise.
Don’t feel like you just have to use it as a salad dressing – try serving it on chicken, fish, shrimp, grilled veggies – or reduce the buttermilk by half and use as a veggie dip or a sandwich spread. (I LOVE using it as a spread on a wrap with chopped chicken and veggies.)
Use this lemon dill salad dressing within 1 week of making it for best flavor and consistency – it can be kept longer, but don’t exceed 2 weeks. Keep it in an airtight mason jar or salad dressing jar in the fridge.
How to substitute dried dill for the fresh dill called for in the recipe: swap out the fresh dill for 2 teaspoons of dried dill. Using dried dill will allow this recipe to be able to be kept in the fridge a bit longer than using fresh.
Adjust the consistency of this salad dressing by reducing or increasing the buttermilk, according to your own personal preferences.
