For her 6th birthday, I treated my daughter to a week in NYC and we stayed at The Langham. Today, I’m sharing with you an honest family-based review of The Langham NYC and it’s American Girl Package.

A luxurious, family-friendly hotel in NYC, the Langham offers an American Girl Package fit for a princess. Check out what we loved about this NYC landmark hotel

The Langham NYC Review

We’ve now stayed at a couple of NYC hotels, but by far the most luxurious was the Langham.

Located on 5th Avenue just steps away from the Empire State Building and various other NYC landmarks, The Langham is a 60 story limestone building with gorgeous views of the city and luxurious touches throughout.

Each room comes with a Nespresso coffee maker, cookie and bottled water turn down service, Swedish Duxiana beds and large marble-clad bathrooms with rainfall showers. All rooms feature large, bright windows and some have amazing views of the Chrysler Building.

Guests also have access to the hotel’s drop off car service (a Jaguar XJL), a 24 hour Fitness Centre, in-house spa, and the in-house Michelin Starred Ai Fiori restaurant.

We opted to stay at The Langham because of their American Girl Package, since this was a special birthday trip for Ella.

Langham American Girl Package Review

The Langham is located just a short walk from the American Girl Store in NYC and they have partnered together to provide a unique hotel package that really dotes on their younger guests.

Ella arrived to an array of presents (Langham Bear robe, backpack and slippers; an American Girl doll-sized travel bed, and doll-sized robe and slippers set; a $25 American Girl Store gift card; and an American Girl DVD to bring home) and a customized welcome letter.

(Ironically, I had to call down for a DVD player when we went to watch the movie that night – so be sure to look for it when you arrive to prevent delays when you’re actually trying to watch the movie later on.)

Each night we received a platter of treats – their “Milk & Cookie turndown service” and #PrettyinPink popcorn, too.

Ella adored her presents and it was a great introduction to the world of American Girl dolls. She spent her gift card on the cute room service set-up you see in the picture above so that her baby wouldn’t feel left out.

However, her favorite memories of our visit were of our baths in the giant marble soaking tub.

I bought a giant bottle of bubble bath at the pharmacy next door and we filled the tub up to the top! I don’t think I’ve ever had such an easy time convincing her to have a bath! She said it felt like having a pool in the bathroom.

We had gorgeous views of the Chrysler Building from the bathtub – which I thought was super cool. Ella was more impressed by the TV in the mirror (which TBH I could barely see but that could be because the room was so bright).

If you're travelling to NYC with kids, you need to check out the family-friendly yet luxurious Langham on Fifth Avenue - just steps away from the Empire State Building

Proximity to NYC Attractions

There are several NYC attractions just a few minutes walk away from The Langham including the Empire State Building, New York Public Library, Bryant Park, lots of shopping on Fifth Avenue, Korea town, and Grand Central Station. Museum Mile is about a 10 minute bus ride.

Buses and subways are literally a one minute walk away and don’t forget that you can request drop-off car service from the hotel.

Our favorite nearby locations were Her Name is Han (Korean restaurant), Sarabeth’s in Lord and Taylor (a great brunch stop), the American Girl Store (naturally), and Ella developed a slight obsession with the Empire State Building.

Room Service

We didn’t go to Ai Fiori (their in-house Michelin starred restaurant) while we were there, but we did order room service which comes from the same kitchen.

I had one of the best Steak Frites of my life and Ella enjoyed the fish tacos more than once. The presentation was really elegant and worth every penny.

The Langham starts at about $550/night. It’s a luxurious NYC hotel in a prime location, and NYC hotels are the second most expensive in the country with a 2017 average of $339/night (so if that price gives you some sticker shock, hopefully that gives some context).

The reviews that I read for hotels under $300/night were worlds away from what I experienced at The Langham and I think it was well worth it for a special birthday trip to NYC. We made some incredible memories and they were so thoughtful and pampering towards Ella – she can’t wait to go back!

If you’re looking for a luxurious, family-friendly hotel with serious NYC glamour, The Langham on 5th Avenue not only fits the bill – it will exceed your expectations.
