DIY Non-Slip Socks for Kids
We have hardwood floors and will be hosting family over the holidays. They have carpeted homes, so I’m a bit worried the kids will come in sports socks and be slipping all over the house!
I whipped up some easy DIY Non-Slip Socks for Kids to avoid the bruised knees, bumped heads, and broken holiday decor. Here’s a quick tutorial so you can make some – or involve the kids in making their own personalized grippy socks!
I love our hardwood floors. They are are warm and inviting. I LOVE the color they bring to our home and how easy they are to clean. BUT with the winter months in full swing, Ella and myself are wearing socks a lot more often. Just the other day she slipped and bumped her knee on the table. It took such a long time for her to settle. It was great motivation to pull out my craft box and see what I could put together to avoid the whole scenario again.
Non-slip socks can be pretty pricy if you check online. It’s great that the grip is made of organic cotton and all, but $11 for a pair of kids socks is just not in the budget. Skip all the extra money and make a quick DIY project for your kids.
These DIY Non-Slip Socks for Kids are completely customizable. With Christmas right around the corner we chose to make ours with Christmas trees, reindeer, and glow in the dark snowflakes. But pull this project out in the spring or fall and make a new set with bunnies or leaves!
Materials for DIY Non-Slip Socks for Kids
- Kids white socks
- Puffy Paint
- Glow in the dark Puffy Paint
- Toilet paper rolls
How to Make DIY Non-Slip Socks for Kids
Put the toilet paper rolls inside the socks. I tucked the end of the socks inside the end of the toilet paper roll so the socks didn’t slip while we painted.
Then make your own paint creations on the bottom of the sock. Christmas trees and reindeer were the easiest for us to create, but you might like to make a Santa head or Christmas wreath!
Allow the paint to dry completely. We left our socks out over night to be sure all the paint dried before Ella gave them a try.
Use the glow in the dark puff paint instead of regular paint for a fun addition to your kids’ sock drawer! Ella loves these and wears them often now that it gets darker so much earlier.
Use glow in the dark white paint to make snowflakes or use multiple colors to Christmas lights!
And just like that you have made a fun DIY project and avoided any more bruised legs or heads!
