Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Milkshake Recipe

I’m all about special treats to indulge loved ones, without having to spend all day in the kitchen (especially in the heat of the summer) – and these delicious Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Milkshakes made definitely hit the spot!

It takes less than 5 minutes to whip up these milkshakes, including a quick chocolate dip for the strawberries and glasses, and the result is a fun blend of the two best milkshake flavors.

Just when you’ve been satisfied by the strawberry shake, the chocolate shake hits your tastebuds and starts a new taste sensation.

I originally developed this recipe for a sponsored Instagram post with Promised Land Dairy, but it was such a fun recipe that I had to share it here, too!

This recipe makes enough for two milkshakes, perfect for a romantic night in or just a special treat for the kids (maybe split more ways than two).

As always, before you make any milkshake – make sure you have plenty of yard work for those pesky boys that always show up.

Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Milkshake Variations:

  • Just make a strawberry shake and garnish with melted chocolate on the rib and drizzled over the final milkshake
  • Incorporate chocolate chips into the shake by blending into it (don’t add after as they will be too large to pass through the straw)
  • Make homemade strawberry whipped cream by combining strawberry jello powder with heavy creamy whipped cream
  • Use fresh strawberries to give vanilla ice cream a natural strawberry flavor
  • Use protein shakes in place of the flavored milks to add a protein boost to your dessert

Can this milkshake recipe be prepared in advance? While the chocolate-covered strawberries and chocolate-rimmed glasses can be prepared a day in advance, you won’t save any time by preparing the milkshake layers in advance.

If you make the milkshakes in advance, the milk will expand and the mixture will form into a large ice block that will need to be thawed to blended before enjoying – so I recommend making those shortly before you plan on enjoying these milkshakes.

In a blender, combine the Promised Land Dairy Very Berry Strawberry Milk and Kroger Vanilla Bean Ice Cream to make your milkshake. I liked a 1:1 ratio of ice cream to milk, but you can go based on your personal preference for how thick you want your milkshake.
