Chipotle Lime Shrimp Recipe

Chipotle and lime go together like peanut butter and jelly.

It’s a classic flavor combination, especially when it comes to shrimp, thanks to it’s smoky, spicy and tangy flavor profile. With the addition of honey in our recipe, we add in a sweet element that makes these chipotle lime shrimp utterly irresistible.

And did I mention? It’s ready in less than 10 minutes! That’s faster than you can drive to your local Mexican restaurant, so why not make this recipe at home?

Chipotle Lime Shrimp Variations:

  • Add a teaspoon of cumin for smokiness
  • Use canned chipotles plus a bit of the adobo sauce from the can for a saucier and spicer shrimp
  • Serve with our avocado lime dressing as a dip or drizzled garnish
  • Serve with a fresh salsa like pico de gallo, pineapple salsa or mango salsa
  • Make as tacos or taco bowls

This recipe traditionally calls for tequila, but I’m making it for a family so even though the alcohol burns off with cooking, it would still leave a bit of tequila flavor so I decided not to incorporate it into our recipe. If desired, add a shot or two to the marinade.

Tip: I prefer to use four 12-15” metal skewers for this recipe. If using wooden skewers be sure to soak for at least 30 minutes before adding shrimp to prevent burning.
