3-ingredient Witch’s Brew Slime

You know how most families have boxes and boxes of Christmas stuff?

Christmas ornaments. Christmas tree. Christmas tableware. Christmas decor…

Well, we’re like that – for Halloween.

Ella and I both have a slight obsession with all of the fun aspects of Halloween (but we don’t go for the gory or horror aspects – just the spooky, kooky, and fun!)

We’ve been coming up with so many fun uses for our Halloween cauldron, and the latest idea was to let Ella pretend to be a witch (a la Worst Witch) and come up with the perfect spell for a spooky slime.

She grabbed her Harry Potter notebook and wand pen and got to work planning out her recipe.

The best part about this fun Halloween sensory play activity is that you can let kids be creative with whatever materials you have on hand.

Naturally, I already had eyeball balls, bat glitter, glow in the dark bugs, and tiny spiders – because, ahem Halloween person here. But I think this slime would still be fun without the mix-ins because Ella had a blast stirring everything all up in the cauldron and “practising her magic spells.”

Plus, it was a great writing activity – she was really excited to write out all of the ingredients in her slime!

The resulting Halloween slime was stretchy, oozy and everything a good slime should be. We added a bit of purple food dye but it didn’t dye her hands or the table surface. (Always have vinegar on hand though in case the slime gets on carpet, hair or clothing.)

When you’re done with this slime, the spiders, eyeballs and other mix-ins can be easily removed and used again for another activity. (Expect for the bat glitter – that’s in the slime to stay.)

This super easy slime would be a great Halloween party activity or gift! Maybe grab some mini-cauldrons or these plastic test tubes for gift-giving.

This slime recipe is super easy for kids to make independently – but with supervision!

This could be described as so many different slime depending on your child’s interests:

Tip: You can also add a bit of shaving cream if you want to make this a fluffy Halloween slime.

You can use white glue for this slime recipe for a more opaque effect.

How to Make Magic Potion Slime

Empty the glue into the cauldron or mixing bowl.

Add a splash of water and stir it in.

Add the baking soda, stir, then the contact solution.

Stir well until the slime forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the cauldron – then knead for two minutes.

If after one minute of kneading the slime is still super sticky, add a splash more water and contact solution. This isn’t an exact science – you will need to experiment a bit to get the perfect potion – er, slime.

Next, stir in your “potion ingredients.”

Knead the slime well with each addition to incorporate.

Stretch, squish, and have fun with your new magic slime!
