I love a classic Waldorf salad and it turns out it’s also a delicious way to use up leftover turkey. Today’s recipe is a simple Turkey Waldorf Salad.

A healthy twist on a Classic Waldorf Salad, this Turkey Waldorf Salad adds in more veggies and swaps out most of the mayo for greek yogurt

Turkey Waldorf Salad Recipe

Waldorf salad is one of my favorite types of salad. It’s that perfect half-way point between comfort food and super healthy salad with creamy-crunchy chicken salad served overtop of lettuce, with plenty of celery, grapes and nuts in the mix.

The Waldorf Salad was invented at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in NYC by Oscar Tschirky, the maître d’hôtel back in 1896. Over the years it has seen some changes, notably the addition of walnuts and in some recipes (including my own) the addition of chopped apples.

Traditionally, Waldorf salad is made with mayonnaise – but after all of that holiday indulgence, a simple swap of greek yogurt makes this salad a lot healthier. However, I still want the taste of mayonnaise in this recipe so I prefer to swap out  about half of the mayonnaise for greek yogurt. You could even do 3 Tablespoons greek yogurt and 1 Tablespoon mayonnaise.

Tip: you can adjust the greek yogurt-mayonnaise ration to your personal preference, or even replace one completely with the other.
