Strawberry Salsa Recipe

This strawberry salsa recipe is such a fun way to incorporate fresh summer flavors into your tried-and-true favorite protein recipes.

We used this strawberry salsa in our ice cream-themed movie night to lend some fruity spice to our breaded chicken, but it can be enjoyed with tortilla chips or served on top of fish tacos, baked salmon, etc. Honestly, I would be hard-pressed to think of any protein that this easy strawberry salsa wouldn’t pair well with! This strawberry salsa would even be tasty on scrambled eggs!

We’ve previously made sweet strawberry salsa as more of a dessert dip, so I had to try my hand at a spicier version. And, why not? Tomatoes are a fruit after all, why not swap them out for another bountiful summer fruit?

Strawberry Salsa Variations:

  • Add jalapeños for added heat (If you want this salsa to be mild, cut the jalapenos in half and then scrap out the seeds and membranes using the edge of a spoon to deseed the jalapenos before dicing them finely.)
  • Add avocados for added creaminess
  • Add additional fruits like diced mango or pineapple for added flavor
  • Add honey for more sweetness
  • Add balsamic vinegar for more zesty flavor (we already had balsamic vinegar on our side salad, so that’s why we didn’t include it in the salsa)
  • If you’re one of those people who tastes soap when they eat cilantro, swap it out for parsley or basil

How to store your strawberry salsa: Store the salsa in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. (I do not recommend freezing this recipe if you include cilantro.)

Can I make this strawberry salsa recipe using frozen strawberries? Yes, frozen strawberries are great in this recipe as they will add more strawberry juice to the salsa as they come to temperature. (Don’t discard it!)
