The perfect cross between a tender strawberry muffin a crunchy glazed donut, these Glazed Strawberry Muffins are a decadent treat that can be made with fresh or frozen strawberries.

These melt-in-your-mouth glazed strawberry muffins feature juicy strawberries, a tender crumb and and crisp, sugary glazed muffin tops. Move over, blueberry muffins, summer has a new favorite muffin.

Easy Glazed Strawberry Muffins Recipe

My blueberry muffin recipe has been a viral hit for years now, and to be honest, I’m not sure why blueberry muffins dominate when strawberries are clearly the superior summer fruit… but today we’re putting strawberries back where they belong: in the summer spotlight.

These melt-in-your-mouth glazed strawberry muffins feature juicy strawberries, a tender crumb and and crisp, sugary glazed muffin tops.

They are inarguably the ultimate summer muffin recipe.

Moist, soft, fluffy and lightly tangy thanks to buttermilk and lemon juice, these strawberry muffins can also be gently warmed with the addition of cinnamon and allspice, especially if you are making them towards the end of the summer, when all things cinnamon and pumpkin spice start making their appearance.

Glazed Strawberry Muffins Variations:

  • Crunchy sugar topping instead of a glaze
  • Use a blend of berries (blueberries, raspberries, etc)
  • Add a teaspoon of almond extract for a more gourmet flavor
  • Add chocolate chips – maybe even white chocolate chips
  • Top with oatmeal flakes or coconut flakes for crunch
  • Strawberry extract can also be added for a more pronounced fruity flavor throughout the muffin

Can these strawberry muffins be frozen? Yes, you can freeze these muffins for up to three months without the glaze. Bake and allow the muffins to cool completely. Place in a single layer in an airtight freezer bag or your favorite freezer containers. (If you need to layer up the muffins, place a sheet of parchment or wax paper in between the layers to prevent the muffins from sticking together.) Freeze up to 3 months. Thaw completely before glazing the muffins, as directed in the recipe card below.

How long do glazed strawberry muffins last? Store at room temperature 3 days – adding a paper towel to the container will absorb moisture and prevent the muffins from becoming soggy.
