Have you read the Grinch with your kids?

As much as I enjoy the movie, the book is sooo much better in my opinion. I love the lyrical way Dr Seuss wrote with his tongue-twisting phrases and unique descriptions.

This DIY Grinch bookmark is a great way to get your family excited for your own reading of The Grinch! I don’t think we’ve ever managed to read it all in one sitting, so having a cute themed bookmark is a great way to keep your place when the kids’ attention spans are waning (and then easily pick things up for your next reading).

While we used this craft as a bookmark, it can also be used to decorate the edge of a Christmas card or picture.

I highly recommend laminating your paper bookmark to ensure it doesn’t get bent or destroyed. Laminate the Grinch head before attaching to the folded corner bookmark, if you decide to laminate.

This is the laminator I use, and I just buy the super cheap packages of laminate sheets from Amazon. It costs about 13 cents a sheet to laminate which lets us get so much use out of any activity we print out.

Tip: laminate the Grinch’s head to keep this bookmark sturdier for longer.

How to Make a Grinch Bookmark

Take an origami craft paper.

Then take one corner of the paper and bring it towards the opposite corner and fold it there.

This will create a triangular shape.

Then bring the bottom point of the triangle towards the middle.part of the triangle’s base and fold it there.

Cut the left and right corners slightly.

Then fold both corners by bringing them towards the bottom point of the triangle.

Then tuck in both corners inside the flap on the top.

Print our the grinch using the template.

Then cut out the pieces for the grinch’s hat using the template.

Now glue the white ball on the top point of the hat as the pompom of the hat then glue the long white piece on the bottom part of the hat to finish making the Grinch’s hat.

Then glue the fat to the Grinch’s head.

Finish off the bookmark by glueing the Grinch to the origami bookmark we made previously.

Instructions
