Our family loves hiking, and we’ve slowly found that some of our everyday outdoor wear isn’t as great for the Great Outdoors, so we’ve made some swaps for durable, multi-purpose items that fare well outside.

Outdoor Gift Ideas

I came to loving the outdoors the long way ’round.

My parents loved camping so much that they went on a camping trip for their honeymoon. They took us camping multiple times a year, and as soon as my dad retired from the military they bought a goat farm and moved us out to the middle of nowhere.

It was his ideal life as a city kid, but for me as a teenager being surrounded by nothing but nature for miles around… it was a bit much and it was years until I really enjoyed being out in nature again.

Now, Ella and I enjoy every chance we get to hit our local conservation areas and I took her camping for the first time this year. We’re still in that stage where we’re boring a lot but our next investment will be some solid camping cooking gear. (This year we bought good air mattresses and fishing gear.)
