A fun Poison Apple Craft for kids, today’s Felt Poison Apple Sewing Craft is perfect for the beginning sewer who loves the Descendants (or just all things Disney).

Felt Poison Apple Craft
Have your kids watched the Descendants yet?
It’s a Disney movie trilogy (with an accompanying quartet of books written by Melissa de la Cruz) based on the kids of some of Disney’s most infamous villains. The symbol for the movies is a red apple with a few bites taken out and that iconic poison apple from Snow White makes a couple appearances, as well.
My daughter is obsessed with the movies and books – we even had a Descendants-themed birthday party for her last year – so I knew that she would love to make her own felt poison apples for our latest sewing project.
You can use this felt poison apple in a few different ways:
- stuff with cotton batting and make into a pocket pal
- attach a keychain to make into a backpack charm
- attach several felt apples to a ribbon or string for a bunting banner
- skip the cotton batting and use as a clothing patch (either sew directly on to a piece of clothing or use an iron-on adhesive)
- attach to a headband for a poison apple headband

Whenever we need to cut out intricate shapes from felt, I always grab some freezer paper and use the freezer paper trick to cut out our felt shapes, but good-quality felt and a sharp pair of scissors also makes all the difference.
If you have a Cricut machine, I’ve also provided a SVG cut file that you can use to cut the felt using your Cricut.
This Poison Apple craft is a great sewing project for kids, no matter their level of sewing ability. I’ve provided a free printable template for you to cut the pattern out from, and then you just need to know how to do a basic whip stitch and a backstitch. (The links above are to my friend Maggie’s channel and they are perfect for kids learning how to sew.)

How to Make a Felt Poison Apple Stuffie
Download, print, and cut out template pieces.

Trace the templates onto the felt pieces as indicated and cut out felt pieces. You’ll need to cut out the large red apple shape twice.

Use a single strand of red thread to backstitch the red eyes and nose onto the green poison coating.

Sew the green piece onto one of the red apples the same way, using green thread.

Finally, use a whip stitch and red thread to sew the front of the apple to the back. When you get to the top, sandwich the brown stem in between and make sure you pass through it at least twice with your thread.

(Optionally, stuff with a small amount of cotton stuffing before closing to give the apple some volume.)
