DIY Halloween Candy Bowl Craft

A quick and easy method for making a homemade Halloween candy bowl using plastic spider rings or plastic toy spiders!

You can alternatively just glue your plastic spiders directly to a clear plastic bowl, but if you don’t have an extra bowl, covering a bowl with plastic wrap or parchment paper and just using it to form the base of your spider bowl (like we did) works pretty well!

You can also use this method for making a variety of different themed bowls:

  • use conversation hearts for a Valentine’s Day candy bowl
  • use mini plastic or styrofoam eggs for an Easter candy bowl
  • use miniature Christmas ornaments for a Christmas candy bowl, etc.

Because we used a lot of glue to make our bowl, it ended up holding up incredibly well and was still completely intact after we were done using it at our Halloween party.

However, if you wanted to dispose of the bowl after use, the spiders can be pried off pretty easily and repurposed for another spider craft.

How to Make a DIY Spider Candy Bowl

Lay out your parchment paper on a clean surface and place the plastic bowl in the centre.

Wrap the bowl in the parchment paper and secure in place with painter’s tape (or scotch tape).

Turn the bowl upside down on your work surface.

If using spider rings, use wire cutters or scissors to remove the ring portion and discard.

Hot glue the spiders around the outside of the bowl, interlocking them so that the bowl will hold it’s shape.

Allow the glue to cool and set completely before placing the bowl right side-up.

Carefully remove the painter’s tape and parchment paper from the bowl, then peel the parchment paper from the glue.

If desired, add additional hot glue strings to the bowl for webs.
