A fun twist on our classic Chocolate Lasagna Dessert, this No-Bake Cherry Chocolate Lasagna has 4 delicious layers combining cheesecake, pie and cookies all in one magical dessert!

A No Bake Cherry Chocolate dessert, this Chocolate Lasagna is a fun take on a Black Forrest Cake, with way less work!

Cherry Chocolate Lasagna Recipe

I love no bake desserts – they are the low-maintenance hero of sweets. You can take breaks while making them if you experience interruptions, you don’t need to heat up the house by turning on the oven (or have to juggle having more than one thing in the oven at a time), you can prep them the day before… and they still turn out delicious!

I love chocolate lasangas (even if they have the most ridiculous name) and this one is a fun Black Forrest Cake-inspired take on a dessert lasagna.

Black Forrest Cake is super high maintenance, with a complicated frosting recipe, specific ingredients needed (that sometimes require speciality stores), time for the cake layers to dry and absorb that kirsch liquor, etc etc. This No Bake Cherry Chocolate Lasagna is the complete opposite – low maintenance, made with ingredients you probably already have on hand, and it can be made as slowly or as quickly as you like!

This is a great dessert recipe to get the kids involved in making, too, since there are several layers and steps – perfect for ensuring that everyone gets enough “turns” adding ingredients, mixing, and smoothing out dessert layers.

If you know someone who loves Black Forrest Cake, this is the perfect easy dessert to surprise them with. It’s also great for a special family night treat or a BBQ dessert, so you can focus on all the other “high maintenance” foods or just having a good time.

This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled depending on the crowd you are trying to serve.

Cherry Chocolate Lasagna Ingredients

  • 26 Oreo cookies
  • 6 Tablespoon butter, melted
  • 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
  • 2 Tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons cold milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups cherry pie filling
  • 12 ounce tub whipped topping (like Cool Whip), divided
  • Chocolate shavings, optional

Tip: the type of Oreos you use change the amount of butter needed. Go based on whether it sticks together more than worrying if you’re adding too much butter.

  • Offset spatula
  • Vegetable peeler

How to Make a Chocolate Dessert Lasagna

Crush 26 Oreo cookies into fine crumbs, using a food processor.

Add in the melted butter and process again until a dough forms. (If the cookie crumbs are still slightly dry, add more butter 1 Tablespoon at a time.)

Press the cookie crust into a lined 9×9 casserole dish.

Place the casserole dish in the fridge as you prepare the cream cheese layer.

Combine the cream cheese, milk, cocoa powder, vanilla and sugar, and mix well. Stir in 1 cup of cool whip.

Spread the cream cheese mixture over the cookie crumb layer.

Spread the cherry pie filling over the cream cheese layer and then spread the remaining Cool Whip overtop.

Cover and refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours before serving.

Just prior to serving, sprinkle with fresh chocolate shavings. (I made mine by running a vegetable peeler along the side of a chocolate bar.)
