Our simple Cherry Cheesecake Wonton recipe is a fun way to enjoy all of the classic flavors of a cherry cheesecake in a quick, two-bite dessert. Made in less than 30 minutes, these dessert wontons are the perfect treat for a family movie night, birthday party or entertaining friends.

Cherry cheesecake wontons have all of the textures and flavors of a traditional cherry cheesecake all wrapped up in a cute, wonton package. Juicy cherry filling, a sweet "cheesecake" pop of sweet-tart flavor and golden, crispy wontons that are reminiscent of a graham cracker crust. It's a fun twist on this classic flavor profile to keep your dessert rotation interesting.

Cherry Cheesecake Wontons Recipe

One of my oldest recipes on Sugar, Spice and Glitter is our Spicy Cream Cheese Wontons – so I think it’s kind of fun to (a full decade later) be adding a sweet twist on a cream cheese wontons: Cherry Cheesecake Wontons.

We’ve since added several more wontons, but this is the first fruity version.

I love that these cherry cheesecake wontons have all of the textures and flavors of a traditional cherry cheesecake all wrapped up in a cute, wonton package.

You get juicy cherry filling, a sweet “cheesecake” pop of sweet-tart flavor and golden, crispy wontons that are reminiscent of a graham cracker crust. It’s a fun twist on this classic flavor profile to keep your dessert rotation interesting.

For an even more decadent treat, serve these with a dessert dip – even something as simple as a small bowl of Cool Whip, extra cherry pie filling or additional cheesecake filling as a Cheesecake Dip.

While you can use an egg wash to seal the wonton wrappers, I simply used water – if your wontons are not sealing well with just water, try whisking an egg with 1-2 Tablespoons of water and use that to seal the wontons before frying.

The most important thing is that the edges are completely sealed – if they aren’t, the filling can leak out but the oil will definitely find it’s way into the wonton and burn the filling.

How to make cherry cheesecake wontons in the air fryer: I have not made this recipe in my air fryer YET but if you wanted to make s’mores wontons in the air fryer, spritz them with oil and airfry for 4 minutes at 350F.

How to make cherry cheesecake wontons in the oven: If you want to make this s’mores wonton recipe in the oven, coat a baking tray well with oil, place the wontons on the sheet and spray well with oil. Bake the wontons at 425F for 2-3 minutes. Note that baking in the oven will not result in perfectly golden, crispy wontons like frying does.

Cherry Cheesecake Wonton Variations:

  • Sprinkle freshly fried wontons with cinnamon-sugar
  • Swap out the cherry pie filling for your favorite pie filling: blueberry, strawberry, apple or pumpkin, etc.
  • Use a teaspoon of Nutella instead of cherry pie filling
  • Add a few graham cracker crumbs to the filling
  • Sprinkle the cooled wontons with powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness
  • Also, there are many different ways to fold wontons (I show different methods in our different wonton recipes) and while this method is very easy, you can simply fold in half to form a triangle if you find this method a bit tricky or are making this recipe with kids

How to store: These cherry cheesecake wontons are best enjoyed within a day of preparing, but they can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Can cherry cheesecake wontons be frozen? Yes! Place the fried wontons in airtight freezer bags or freezer containers for up to 2 months.

How to reheat cherry cheesecake wontons: To reheat these s’mores wontons, you can reheat in either the oven or an air fryer:

  • To reheat cherry cheesecake wontons in the oven, heat oven to 350F and warm the wontons for 5 minutes
  • To reheat cherry cheesecake wontons in the air fryer, heat air fryer to 375F and warm the wontons for 3 minutes
