A fun, felt Easter craft for kids, today’s Easter Bunny Hand Puppet can be either sewn or glued together for a cute homemade toy that makes an adorable addition to an Easter basket.

Easter Bunny Hand Puppet Craft
Somehow I’ve gone from having a child who needs a babysitter to a child who babysits in the blink of an eye.
She likes to bake and craft with the kids she babysits and recently decided to introduce them to some of the Easter songs that she grew up with, so I thought it would be cute for her to do so with a little DIY bunny hand puppet!
This craft took less than 10 minutes to make (15 if you include getting the craft supplies out) and was a total hit! The kids also asked to make their own puppets next time, so expect to see a few more felt hand puppets here in the coming weeks.
You can use your finished bunny puppet to tell stories (think Peter Rabbit or my friend Shaunna has a list of bunny books for kids here) or teach your child songs featuring rabbits – like Little Bunny Foo Foo, Sleeping Bunnies or Little Petter Cottontail. Kids can also come up with their own unique ways to play – and you can use this base shape to create a variety of woodland animals to round out your hand puppet collection.
While we glued our craft together, if you want your bunny hand puppet to last longer, you might want to use a simple hand stitch to reinforce the sides of the craft.
Whenever we need to cut out intricate shapes from felt, I always grab some freezer paper and use the freezer paper trick to cut out our felt shapes, but good-quality felt and a sharp pair of scissors also makes all the difference.
This felt bunny hand puppet craft is a simple, kid-friendly project using basic materials like felt, pom poms and glue to create a soft, wearable puppet. Perfect for Easter crafts, classroom activities or rainy day projects, it combines easy assembly with playful results.

Why You’ll Love This Easy Bunny Craft
- Quick to make, easy to repeat for classrooms, parties or making as homemade gifts.
- A fun craft to make – and a fun toy to play with! Unlike most crafts where the fun is over once you finish making it, with this bunny hand puppet you can actually play with your final creation.
- Flexible and forgiving, small imperfections add charm instead of frustration.
- You can sew or glue this craft together based on personal preference – so even if you don’t know how to sew, you can still make this craft.

Craft FAQs
Yes, a simple running stitch or blanket stitch works well and adds durability, especially if the puppet will be used often.
With adult supervision for cutting and handling the glue, this works well for kids around age 5 and up. Younger children can help place the bunny’s facial features for you to glue down for them.
Hot glue is strong enough for light play. For long-term use or classroom settings, fabric glue or stitching is more reliable.
Spot cleaning is best. Fully submerging may loosen glued pieces, especially pom poms and googly eyes.
You can sketch a simple rounded bunny shape by hand. Keep the bottom wide enough for a hand opening.

Bunny Hand Puppet Materials
- Two 8″ x 11″ pieces of white felt
- Pink felt or craft foam
- Two googly eyes
- One pink pom pom
- Three white pom poms (two for the cheeks and one for the bunny tail)
- Hot glue or fabric glue
- Scissors
- Marker (a disappearing ink fabric pen is a great option if you do lots of fabric crafts)
- Bunny Puppet Template
Tip: if you want to sew the craft together, you will also need a strong needle to get through the layers of felt and white embroidery thread/floss.

How to Make a Bunny Hand Puppet
Print out the free bunny hand puppet template and cut it out.
Trace the template onto one piece of the white felt. Cut out the shape, and then trace onto the second piece of white felt.

Glue (or stitch) the two halves of the white felt along the edges to attach together, leaving the bottom unattached so you can insert your hand inside.

Cut the pink felt or foam into triangles and glue onto the ears to create the bunny’s inner ears.
Use glue to attach the googly eyes, pink pom pom nose and white pom pom cheeks. Add a pink felt mouth, if desired.
Once the facial features are set, flip the bunny over and attach the final white pom pom to the back for it’s tail.

Ideas to Make this Bunny Craft More Unique:
- Pastel Bunny Set: Use soft shades like lavender, pale blue, or butter yellow felt instead of white for a gentle, seasonal palette.
- Embroidered Details: Swap some glued features for simple stitched accents such as whiskers or a stitched smile for added texture.
- Floppy Ear Bunny: Extend and soften one ear shape on the template so it bends slightly forward for a more relaxed look.
- Minimalist Bunny: Skip the pom pom cheeks and use small felt circles instead for a flatter, modern finish.
- Dress-Up Bunny: Add a tiny felt bow tie, flower crown, or scarf to give the puppet a bit of personality.

Tips for the Perfect Bunny Hand Puppet
- Test glue placement first by laying out all facial features before attaching anything permanently. Small adjustments make a big difference in expression.
- Use sharp fabric scissors to avoid jagged edges, especially around the ears where curves are more visible.
- Whenever we need to cut out intricate shapes from felt, I always grab some freezer paper and use the freezer paper trick to cut out our felt shapes, but good-quality felt and a sharp pair of scissors also makes all the difference.
- Let glue fully set before flipping or using the puppet. This prevents shifting and keeps features firmly in place.
