Another delicious Halloween cocktail, this time using the notorious black widow spider as inspiration! This Cherry Juice Cocktail uses Kraken Spiced Rum to create a spooky, black effect and a bit of red gel frosting for drama.

Today’s Black Widow Cocktail is another stellar addition to our line-up. A sweet-tart cocktail with three different types of alcohol giving it a real bite and some amazing flavor. It’s like a crisp cherry pie with a rich, spiced finish.

What kind of cherry juice do I need for a cherry juice cocktail? I’ve used a variety to make this cocktail and they have all been delicious – just different. This time I used a cherry apple juice which was sweeter than using a tart cherry juice. I would go with your personal preference – whether you like your cocktails sweeter or tarter – or just use whatever you happen to have on hand.
How did you get the cocktail to have that black color without food dye? For this cocktail recipe, we used Kraken Spiced Rum which has a dark, almost black color. It gives this Black Widow Cocktail its signature black color without the use of food dye.

- Spiced rum <– this is the brand we used to get that black color
- Tequila
- Cinnamon Whiskey
- Cherry Apple Juice
- Red Gel Frosting
- Mint, optional garnish

Tip: by using Black Kraken Spiced Rum, we avoided the need for black food dye. If you use a different brand, you may want to add a few drops of black or purple food dye to achieve the dark color shown here.

How to Make a Black Widow Cocktail
Fill with glass with ice 3/4 of the way full.
In a bar shaker add 3-4 pieces of ice, rum, tequila and cinnamon whiskey. Shake well to combine.
Pour into prepared glass.
To decorate, use a bit of red gel frosting to create blood drips on the side.
Top off with Cherry Apple Juice.

- 1.5 oz Spiced rum
- .5 oz Tequila
- .5 oz Fireball
- 3 oz Cherry apple juice
Instructions
How to Make a Black Widow Cocktail
- Fill with glass with ice 3/4 of the way full.
- In a cocktail shaker add 3-4 pieces of ice, along with the rum, tequila and cinnamon whiskey. Shake well to combine.
- Pour into prepared glass.
- To decorate, use a bit of red gel frosting to create blood drips on the side.
- Top off with Cherry Apple Juice.
- Add cherry and mint garnish, if desired.
