Artemis Fowl Decoder

So, in case you’ve missed the phenomenon that is the Artemis Fowl fandom, basically Artemis Fowl is a series of eight fantasy fiction books written by Irish author, Eoin Colfer.

The books have received widespread critical acclaim and have even been adapted into a popular graphic novel series. The next step for Artemis Fowl? Why, a Disney movie adaptation of course!

Directed by Kenneth Branagh, ARTEMIS FOWL follows 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, as he finds himself in a battle of strength and cunning against a powerful, hidden race of fairies who may be behind his father’s disappearance.

The film stars Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Tamara Smart, Nonzo Anozie, with Josh Gad, and Judi Dench, and hits theatres on August 9, 2019, giving you plenty of time to dig into the novels with your kids.

Artemis Fowl is the only human fluent in the Gnommish language, and there are several times in the books where readers have to refer to the decoder on the bottom of the page to figure out what the characters are saying.

Today, we’re sharing a decoder to be used on it’s own – maybe for passing secret messages or creating some Artemis Fowl inspired art? I think this is also a fun introduction to hieroglyphics which are also discussed in the books.

I also found this super cute pendant/keychain on Etsy that can be personalized with your own special Gnommish message.
