Recently I shared 4 Fun & Easy Pretzel Lunch Box Snacks and immediately requests were coming in from readers for more easy lunch ideas, so today I wanted to share with you one of our current favorites – Pinwheel Meatwiches!
OK, so it’s a weird name, but the biggest draw with these meat & cheese pinwheels is that they are completely bread- or tortilla-free. This is perfect for moms who are wanting less filler and more, ahem, “meat” in their kids’ lunch box.
At first, we just made these with plain cream cheese spread over lunch meat but as they became a staple in our lunch box rotation, we’ve started to experiment with flavoring the cream cheese and adding in little mix ins that complement the texture of the pinwheels while adding in even more fun!
For the recipes we are sharing today we used Hillshire Farm® Honey Ham and Oven Roasted Turkey found in the lunchmeat aisle at Walmart. The thin sliced honey roast ham adds a touch of sweetness to this hearty lunch while the slow-cooked, oven roasted, thin sliced turkey is like mini home-style meal right in your lunch box (you could even add dried cranberries or turkey-seasoning for a festive take). Both have no artificial flavors.
These pinwheels are so easy to make that even my 6 year old is starting to help make hers – check out the video and then scroll down to grab the recipes (and Shopkick offer) below!
