Pumpkin Spice Latte Cinnamon Bun Recipe

Alright, I was afraid it was going to come to this.

I think we need to stage a Pumpkin Spice Intervention for my daughter. This has to be the 20th Pumpkin Spice recipe I have added to this website – and I’m not even a fan! (*gasp*, I know…)

However, these Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Rolls – made with an actual pumpkin spice latte – are delicious and may just make a Pumpkin Spice Believer out of me, yet.

If you’re already there, I think it’s safe to say you’ll love them!

Ingredients for Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Buns

For the glaze:

Tip: To make the pumpkin spice latte at home you need 2 tbsp pumpkin puree (canned works great), 1 tsp pumpkin spice, 2 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp vanilla, 1 1/2 Cup milk and 1 shot of espresso (around 1/4 cup of really strong coffee). Mix the canned pumpkin+ spice + sugar + vanilla in a saucepan until it looks bubbly. Add the milk and the coffee and blend.

How to Make Pumpkin Spice Latte Rolls

Preheat oven to 350F.

In a bowl, pour the water, add the yeast, flour, baking powder, ¼ cup brown sugar, pumpkin spice, and ground nutmeg. Stir until getting a smooth dough.

Transfer to a floured table and knead for 5 minutes.

Take to a bowl, cover it and let it rise until it doubles in size (40-60 minutes).

While waiting, whip up the filling: in a small bowl, combine the remaining sugar and melted butter. Add the Pumpkin Spice Latte and cinnamon. Stir until it is evenly combined.

Once the dough has risen, transfer to a floured table and roll it out.

Spread the filling and roll it to form buns.

Slice it and take to a greased baking pan.

Let them rise for 20 minutes and then take to the oven and bake for 20-30 minutes.

While baking, whip up the glaze: in a small bowl mix well the sugar and water and transfer to a piping bag.

Remove the cinnamon rolls from the oven, let them cool down for 10 minutes.

Decorate with the glaze.

Ingredients

For the Cinnamon Rolls:

  • ½ cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons yeast
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • ¾ cup Pumpkin Spice Latte
  • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

  • ½ cup powdered confectioner's sugar
  • ¼ cup water
