This week, we’re bringing you all of our favorite smoothie recipes – starting with my favorite green smoothie and my daughter’s favorite pear kale smoothie. Today, we’re bringing you a Cantaloupe Kale Smoothie!

Cantaloupe Kale Smoothie is a great solution for digestive issues. Hydrating and helps get things moving

Smoothies are a daily fixture in our home. They just make it so incredibly easy to get a lot of nutrition into little bodies in a short amount of time.

My daughter is a super slow eater so I tend to make them for her in the morning so she can take it with her if needed, and I make green smoothies in the afternoon for my daycare kiddos to sneak some extra nutrition into the picky eaters and keep them all happy and full until suppertime rolls around.

This green smoothie has a bright and refreshing melon flavor and you can barely taste the kale. When I add the banana, you can’t taste the kale at all – and as a bonus, frozen bananas give this smoothie a thick, milkshake-like texture.

(Slight TMI warning...) This Cantaloupe Kale Smoothie serves a very specific purpose in our daycare – while the kids love it, I tend to only make it when one of the kids is encountering constipation problems. The cantaloupe is great for helping get things moving and it has a high water content, which is great because often dehydration and constipation go hand-in-hand.

I tend to only make this smoothie when “the issue” presents itself so that the kids are always eager to drink it when I make it and don’t get tired of the delicious flavor. (The smoothie is only effective if the kids will actually drink it!) For kids that have a persistent issue, you can mix it up by adding handfuls of berries or teaspoons of berry powder to the smoothie every once in awhile.

My kids also love this smoothie combo frozen into popsicles!

Ingredients for Cantaloupe Kale Smoothie

  • 1 cup cantaloupe, chopped
  • 1 banana, frozen preferably
  • 1 1/2-2 cups packed kale
  • 1/2 cup milk of choice

Tip: adjust the ingredients as needed for a thicker or sweeter smoothie.
