Banana Split Bites Recipe

Ella has been helping me in the kitchen since she was 18 months old and now at nearly 8 years old she loves taking charge and doing simple recipes independently.

While she knows how to use most of our kitchen appliances and I do trust her to cook on the stove (with supervision), I still prefer that if she’s going to insist on being completely independent that she stick with no-bake recipes. (It just makes me want to hover less.)

These no-bake banana split bites were a recent invention that Ella and I came up with together and she was able to execute perfectly on her own! She made them on a family movie night as I cleaned up from supper. I loved that they had all of the flavors of a big, indulgent banana split in a two-bite dessert.

(For children not yet ready to use the microwave independently, you can melt the chocolate for them beforehand and then leave them to it.)

Of course, since bananas brown quickly after peeling, be sure to prepare these within about 30 minutes of when you plan to consume them.

I hope your kids love helping to make this recipe as much as Ella did!
