And then there’s the dipping sauce—a zippy mix of lemon juice, Dijon, and honey that’s sharp, sweet, and tangy all at once, cutting through the richness and tying it all together.

PS – if you’re wondering what are chicken croquettes, they are a ground chicken patty that is typically served fried.

Can I freeze these chicken croquettes? Yes! After forming the croquettes, place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze until solid, then transfer to a freezer-safe container or zip-top bag. (This set of freezer containers is a crazy bargain.) Cook directly from frozen in the air fryer at 350°F for 12–14 minutes per side, flipping halfway through, or until golden and fully cooked.

How do I cook chicken croquettes in the oven instead of the air fryer? Preheat your oven to 400°F. Place the croquettes on a parchment-lined baking sheet and spray or brush the tops lightly with olive oil. Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.

What can I substitute for zucchini? Grated carrot works well as a swap and adds a subtle sweetness. You could also try finely chopped spinach or kale (sautéed briefly first to remove moisture), though the texture will be slightly different.

Can I make these chicken croquettes gluten-free? Absolutely. Substitute gluten-free panko or crushed rice crackers for the breadcrumbs. Make sure your Dijon mustard is certified gluten-free as well.

What’s the best way to reheat leftover croquettes? Reheat croquettes in the air fryer at 350°F for 6–8 minutes, or in a 375°F oven for about 10 minutes. This keeps them crisp on the outside while warming through the center without drying them out. Avoid the microwave if you want to maintain the texture.
