A quick and easy recipe for making 4-Ingredient Blueberry Bagels that are protein-rich and more flavorful than the blueberry bagels available in the grocery store bread aisle. The perfect addition to your meal prep session and a great grab-and-go option for busy weekdays.

Blueberry Bagels Recipe
It took me a long time to become a breakfast person, and honestly, a big part of that was because I was raised thinking that a cold bowl of cereal and milk was breakfast.
Now, I want a hearty, warm and substantial breakfast – but my daughter’s athletic schedule has me operating in a time crunch. We often have 30 minutes before wake-up and between getting in the car, so I need quick and easy options that I can just warm up and enjoy on-the-go.
While I have a few other grab-and-go options already on the blog, today I’m kicking off a series of 4-ingredient bagels that are protein-rich and great for toasting and then grabbing before you jump in a chilly car before your morning commute (or morning training session).
Today’s 4-ingredient Blueberry Bagels are tender and chewy with a gorgeous golden crust and fresh, juicy sweet-tart blueberries, and clock in at 7g protein, 1g fibre and 147 calories. I’m not too worried about the calories, but as a parent who is trying to add as much protein to my athlete’s diet, this is a an easy base to add even more protein-rich toppings like cream cheese, peanut butter, etc., or serve alongside a protein shake (which I still can’t convince myself is enough of a breakfast on it’s own).
With these blueberry bagels there is no rising time, no yeast, no boiling the bagels and minimal kneading time. Just whip up you dough, shape into bagels and bake.
That’s it – three steps and you’re ready to enjoy bakery-quality bagels with 4 ingredients and in less than 30 minutes.

Can I use all-purpose flour instead of self-rising flour? If you don’t have self-rising flour, you can substitute with 2 cups all-purpose flour, 2.5 teaspoons baking powder and 0.5 teaspoon salt.
How to store homemade chocolate chip bagels: store at room temperature in a sealed container for up to 2 days for optimal freshness. Alternatively, store in the fridge for up to a week.
You can freeze these bagels for up to 3 months in an airtight freezer container or ziptop freezer bag. (This set of freezer containers is a crazy bargain.)
Can I make these Greek yogurt bagels in the air fryer? Yes, you can bake them in the air fryer at 280F for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through the baking time.
Tips for Making 3-Ingredient Bagels:
- If you try this recipe and want your bagels to be chewier, you can swap out the self-rising flour for bread flour.
- Must use full-fat GREEK yogurt for best results. It helps make the bagels tender and the acid in the yogurt reacts with the baking powder to act as a leavening agent in the bagels.
- However, you can use a flavoured Greek Yogurt to add in additional flavour profiles without increasing the number of ingredients you need to incorporate in the recipe.
- For a golden, chewy exterior, brush the bagels with an egg wash just before baking
- Can whip up the bagel dough (and even shape the bagels) a day or two before (just be sure to let it come to room temperature before baking).
- Can form the bagels into different shapes, like bagel-style breadsticks, dinner rolls, or fun shapes like Mickey Mouse bagels, heart-shaped bagels, etc.

Kitchen Tools You May Find Helpful
- Electric mixer <– this is a great hand mixer if you don’t want to make the investment into a stand mixer
- Measuring Cups and Spoons
- Mixing Bowl
- Dough Cutter
- Cookie Sheet
- Silicone Baking Mat
- Pastry Brush <– I like these because they are one solid piece and don’t have removable heads for bacteria to get trapped underneath. Plus they are heat-resistant and have a lifetime warranty.

How to Make Blueberry Bagels
Preheat oven to 475F
Set up your electric mixer with a kneading/paddle attachment, if you have one.

In the bowl of your electric mixer, combine the self-raising flour and yogurt and knead for 6 minutes until a ball forms. Add additional self-raising flour as needed. (The moisture of your yogurt may affect the exact quantities.)
If you don’t have an electric mixer, you will need to knead the dough by hand for the 6 minutes.

Once the dough forms a cohesive, elastic ball of dough, remove it from the bowl and place on a work space dusted with additional flour.
Divide the dough into 6 equal portions, knead 10ish blueberries into each bagel portion.
Form each portion of dough into a bagel. Make them wider with a bigger hole than a normal bagel as they will get smaller with baking.

Place the formed bagels onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Brush the bagels with the egg white, if desired.
Bake for 10-14 minutes, until tops of bagels are golden brown.
Makes 6.
