Unicorn Mother’s Day Card (with VIDEO)
A cute Mother’s Day card kids can make, this Unicorn Mother’s Day Card is super easy to make thanks to a free printable template which kids can customize.
Unicorn Mother’s Day Card Craft
Sometimes Moms need a reminder about just how magical they are – so today’s craft is here to give that beautiful memo!
While I will always treasure the simple Mother’s Day cards that Ella has made for me (like our Handprint Roses or our I Love You THIS Much Card), as she inches closer to the tween years she seems to want to do less of those types of crafts and more teen-style crafts.
I think this printable card is the perfect compromise. It’s sweet and kids can personalize it in a few ways: how they color in the letters, how they decorate the unicorn, and any special notes or drawings they include inside the card. It would work perfectly for any age group.
While we just did a simple rainbow pattern on the letters, there are so many possibilities for patterns and illustrations – and kids can use a variety of materials to customize their mom’s cards. (If you print on cardstock you can even use light paint, as long as you don’t oversaturate the paper.)
We also included a couple different ways that kids can customize this card in the printable – offering two different unicorn faces (eyes closed or Kawaii-style eyes) and two secret messages: “Happy Mother’s Day / You are Magical” or simply, “Happy Mother’s Day.”
Of course, kids can swap out our secret message for one of their own, or just put a special drawing under the unicorn’s face.
This magical mother’s day card is a sweet and simple project that will bring a smile to any lucky mama’s face.

How to Make a Unicorn Mother’s Day Card
The first step to creating your unicorn card is to print the unicorn face template on regular printer paper. Decide which greeting you would like and cut it out. Glue the greeting oval on pink construction paper and trim around the edges leaving a little boarder.
Now decide which unicorn face you like and color it with the colored pencils. Cut it out and use the glue stick to adhere it to the bottom pink oval. Fold the oval in half now so you can only see the unicorn. Color the triangle horn. Then cut and paste it to the back of the pink oval. Glue the three flowers to the unicorn face and add one sequins to the center of each flower.
Next, print the MOM template on cardstock. Fold the template so the crease is at the top of the M-O-M. Trim around the edge, keeping it folded and the crease together. Give the cards lots of personality by coloring the two Ms anyway you’d like.
To finish the card, glue the unicorn to the center, you can even write a personal message inside.
