Hi Dahlia,
Sorry for the delay! We stayed in Montparnasse (15th arrondissement) and found it pretty convenient to walk or take affordable ubers anywhere we wanted (if you don’t use the public transit) – but my daughter is really good about walking “like a grown-up” LOL. It had some shops and restaurants close by but was quiet and residential.
I wouldn’t advise staying at the further out arrondissements as they are less walkable to attractions and the shops/restaurants may close earlier. If you can find affordable and well-rated accommodations in the 1st-11th arrondissements, they are ideal.
