In reply to <a href="https://sugarspiceandglitter.com/kids-kitchen-cutting-apples-practical-life-lesson/comment-page-1/#comment-408360">Heloise</a>.

We haven't run into that issue - I tend not to give the kids the smallest apples in the bag, but cutting the apple in half along the middle helps with any issues with disfigured/uneven apples.
Maybe granny smith or ambrosia apples? Those tend to be bigger where we live.

Hi. Really intrigued by your blog. Please let me know the alternates for demonstrating mortar and pestle in a Montessori classroom. I came up with cinnamon sticks, but that was taking a while. Then came up with chalk pieces to form powder. Does it sound exciting ? Please reply today. Have a presentation tomorrow.

I found that it make take some force to cut an apple with a slicer. My kids love doing it, but they sometimes need assistance with the slicing work. You may also want to give them smaller, softer apples as a start :)
