An easy and fun DIY Period Pamper Kit is a great gift for a friend – or to yourself!

Easy Period Kit Gift Idea

Growing up, my period was easy and uneventful. I had no idea how easy I had it!

After Ella, it’s been completely different. I feel tired for the first two days of my cycle and have a hard time making decisions. My skin breaks out and I’m easily moved to tears – making social media off-limits!

At first, I resisted these changes, trying to force myself to still be productive or having extra espressos to make it through the day, but now, I’ve embraced my body’s natural invitation to slow down and take it easy.

I’m actually at the point where I really look forward to that mid-month break.

I take a break from late-night work and indulge in some of my favorite things while also making an effort to pamper myself – something I don’t do nearly enough of! I do my monthly pedicure, give myself homemade face masks, and indulge in yummy treats.

It’s a lovely self-care ritual that makes me feel feminine, relaxed and – let’s be honest – a bit extra.

And of course, I can’t have an at-home spa night without including my mini-me, at least for a portion of the evening.

Today, I’m going to share with you what I put in my DIY Period Pampering Kit – and how to make two of my monthly treats. A homemade avocado face mask and bacon-wrapped brown sugar chicken. (Are you drooling yet?)

My “Extra” Period Kit is a fun way to treat yourself but would also make a great gift for a friend who just got her monthly visit – or a teenager who has just joined the club!

How to Make a Period Pampering Kit

I started with a standard cardboard box with a lid. You can buy one that is pre-decorated but I wanted to have a bit of fun with the “period theme.”

After ensuring that my box would fit all of the (shelf stable) supplies that I wanted to have on hand, I got to decorating.

My supplies:

  • Wrapping paper (dot pattern)
  • Spray adhesive
  • Scissors
  • Black sparkle tissue paper
  • Purple metallic paint
  • Black glitter glue
  • Black ribbon

For my box, I used spray adhesive to permanently apply wrapping paper to the bottom half of the box. This was tricky (even though I’m pretty decent at wrapping things) and I ended up having to use two boxes to get it right – unless you have a really specific wrapping paper you want to use, I recommend painting the box free-hand or buying your box semi-decorated.

Next, I painted a dot theme on the lid by tracing a couple different sizes of circles onto the lid and painting them with the purple metallic paint. (I love the dimension that the metallic paint gives.)

After the paint dried, I used black glitter glue to trace around the circles to help them pop even more.

As the lid dried, I put black sparkle tissue paper in the box and repacked all my supplies.

Once the lid was dry, I tied my ribbon around the box and put the kit in safe keeping until my period arrived.

What to Pack in a Period Pamper Kit

The key to this kit is to include items that you only need once a month and will really look forward to seeing when you open up your kit each month. Here’s what I included:

  • Playtex® Simply Gentle Glide
  • Shelf-stable snacks
  • Recipe cards
  • Pedicure or manicure tools
  • Favorite sturdy nail polishes (for a pedicure that lasts all month)
  • Hair bands for face masks
  • Store-bought face masks or recipe cards for homemade

I got my Playtex® Simply Gentle Glide™ at Meijer. You can too with this coupon. Avocado Face Mask Recipe

This Avocado-Oatmeal Face Mask is great for soothing irritated skin and leaves my skin less red and feeling soft. It only requires 4 ingredients which I always have on hand so it’s perfect for whipping up when we have our spa nights.

To make a homemade avocado face mask, you will need:

  • 1 tablespoon oats
  • 1/2 very ripe avocado
  • 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Note: double the recipe for two people, and adjust the lemon juice as desired.

Bacon-Wrapped Brown Sugar Chicken

I find myself craving fat, protein and chocolate during that time of the month – and not necessarily in that order!

I stock the box with microwave cake mixes (perfect for single serving size) and good quality chocolate (these ones are caramel filled from our last trip to Chicago – yum!), but I also make something indulgent and protein-packed to snack on, like chicken wings or these life-changing bacon-wrapped brown sugar chicken bites.

These honestly take 5-10 minutes to prepare (depending on how slow you’re moving) and are so satisfying. I also add a small piece of sharp cheddar into the mix when I’m also having a bit of a salty craving.

To make these bacon-wrapped brown sugar chicken bites, you will need:

  • 2 chicken breasts boneless skinless
  • 8 strips bacon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup cheddar cheese, sliced, optional

Preheat oven 375F

Cover a baking sheet with tinfoil for easy clean up, and then place an oven-safe rack overtop.

In a shallow bowl, mix together the brown sugar, salt and pepper.

Cut each chicken breast into 1″ thick strips (about 4 per breast) and season. If using cheese, lay one piece on top of each strip.

Wrap each chicken strip with bacon.

Dip the bacon-wrapped chicken into the brown sugar mixture and roll to cover completely.

Place each chicken strip on the rack and bake for 20-25 minutes until an internal temperature of 165F is reached.

  1. I’m sorry it has taken me so long to make a new list. There were some problems making this list. I also was away from the computer for awhile. I hope you all have had a good month. It’s been almost a month since the last update. The next list won’t take that long to make. At least I hope it won’t.
