Blue Lagoon Cocktail Recipe
This Blue Lagoon Cocktail Recipe is dedicated to any woman who grew up wanting to be a mermaid – a delicious citrusy summer cocktail that any salt water drinking mermaid is sure to be jealous of!
I had a lot of fun experimenting with making an ocean-themed cocktail for our family’s Little Mermaid movie night and thought I had stumbled on a genius invention when I came up with the below recipe. However, when I searched on Google afterwards I found that the Blue Lagoon had indeed already been discovered.
It’s a fun addition to the rotation of my other favorite tropical cocktails – Mai Tais and Jamaican Rum Cocktail – in the summer months or at any ocean-themed party.
A traditional blue lagoon cocktail is 1 part vodka, 1 part Blue Curaçao, and 4 parts lemonade – the perfect cocktail for any citrus lover. It tastes just like lemonade with a slightly orange undertone.
However, I also experimented and loved making a Blue Lagoon with 2 parts Blue Curaçao and 4 parts cream soda, resulting in a vanilla-citrus blue drink that has a slight ice cream shoppe nostalgia while being fresh and exciting. If you’re a creamsicle fan, but recipe will definitely hit the spot!
Tip: I often order my liquor from Drizly because they have a quick delivery time (sometimes within 40 minutes) and no expensive mark-ups. Purchasing from them supports local retailers, too. You can order the Blue Curaçao needed for this recipe from them.
