Hi Lorraine,
I’m sorry for your frustration in making the recipe. The crushed tomatoes and wine were optional ingredients so they were formatted weirdly in the recipe card which I’ve now corrected. The flour from the dumplings should thicken the stew as it cooks, but cornstarch is a great option if that doesn’t turn out.
