Classic Old-Fashioned Gingerbread Cake

This Old Fashioned Gingerbread is an easy, delicious Christmas cake that requires no fancy decorating.

Ingredients

•  Powdered icing sugar •  Butter •  Brown sugar •  Eggs •  Molasses

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325ºF.

Step 2

Grease and line a cake pan with parchment paper, then sprinkle with powdered icing sugar.

Step 3

Using an electric mixer, beat the butter until light and pale, about 2 minutes.

Step 4

Add the brown sugar and beat until smooth and airy, about 1 minute.

Step 5

Add the eggs and beat until just incorporated.

Step 6

Beat in the molasses or black treacle syrup, followed by the milk.

Step 7

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, ground ginger, baking soda and salt.
