Have you ever tried OREO Cookie Balls? Sometimes called No-Bake OREO Truffles, these little gems are family favourite, especially at holiday get-togethers.

These OREO Cookie Ball Snowmen are a cute, edible centerpiece for your holiday dessert table and make a cute, personalized gift or lunch box addition! Check out how we made and enjoyed them!

OREO Cookie Ball Snowmen - a fun twist on a classic Christmas cookie. Make a winter scene with the kids - a marshmallow igloo, a pretzel sled, the sky's the limit. Use flavoured OREOs for an extra holiday twist.

If you’ve ever eaten an OREO Cookie Ball, you’ll know that they are absolutely delicious – a sweet little morsel with just the right mix of sweet and tangy – but what might surprise you is that they are super easy to make and they only require 3 ingredients.

These OREO Cookie Balls can be quickly prepared in less than 20 minutes, unless you want to make a snow-family, which is a bit closer to 40 minutes to an hour with the extra decorating.

Assemble your ingredients.

Ingredients needed to make OREO cookie balls, or OREO snowmen!

OREO Cookie Balls only require 4 ingredients – chances are you already have them in your kitchen right now:

  • 36 OREO Cookies (I used Peppermint for the snowwomen & Mint for the snowmen)
  • 1-8oz. package cream cheese, softened
  • 4-4oz pacakges semi-sweet baking chocolate, melted

I also added:

  • 8oz. white candy melts, melted

How to make OREO Cookie Ball Snowmen

Place your 36 OREO Cookies to a food processor or blender and crush.

Once your OREOs are finely crushed, add the softened cream cheese and blend completely. This will result in a luscious (safe-to-eat) cookie batter.

If you’re using two different OREO cookie flavours like I did, make sure to keep them separate and figure out a system to remember which is which. For me, I wrote the flavour with permanent marker on the parchment paper that the cookie balls were placed upon for freezing.

Roll the cookie-cream cheese mixture into balls. When you’re making standard OREO Cookie Balls, you would make all of the cookie balls the same size (1 inch) but for the snow-people, you need three different sizes of balls – I did about a half inch size, an inch, and about an inch and a half.

Don’t worry about things being too exact, it just needs to look proportional when you build your OREO Cookie Ball Snowmen.

Place the cookie balls on parchment-lined baking trays and freeze for 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, melt the chocolate and white candy melts.

Once the OREO Cookie Balls have frozen, dip them in the melted chocolate, let set, and then dip in the white candy melts.

Once the candy coating has set, add an additional dab of melted chocolate or candy to a large cookie ball, and securely attach a medium-sized cookie ball on top. Allow the “adhesive” chocolate to completely set, and then add a dab of chocolate on top of the medium cookie ball and attach a small cookie ball for the snowman’s head.

For snow-children, just attach a small cookie ball to a medium cookie ball.

To decorate our OREO Cookie Ball Snowmen and create a cute scene for our holiday table, we used:

  • Orange sprinkles for noses
  • Black food marker for embellishments
  • Pretzels & pretzel sticks for a sled
  • Icing sugar snow
  • Marshmallows & sugar cubes for the igloo

Making the sleds and the igloo are a great STEM activity for kids to engage in and can be a little less frustrating than dealing with constructing the snowmen or working on the little details for facial features, etc.

But I have to say my favourite aspect is this cute little pretzel sled! It’s simply a few pretzel sticks stuck together with melted chocolate, then a regular pretzel was added on top with a bit of white candy melt for the “sled handle.”

Who wouldn’t want to go for a ride on a pretzel sled with a OREO Cookie Ball Snowman?

We also included a snow-baby in with a Snowman Themed Lunch Box for Ella. (Details coming tomorrow.)
