This Silky Relaxing Massage Oil has a relaxing wild orange scent perfect for bedtime back rubs or a relaxing foot massage.

Homemade Massage Lotion for relaxation massages - a thoughtful homemade gift made with essential oils

This is a guest post written by my friend, Shelby from Fit as a Mama Bear.

Excessive stress, tight muscles and poor posture. Just about every one of us could use a massage! And what better way to enjoy your massage than with a healthy, homemade, non toxic massage lotion?

The butters in this massage lotion are known for their moisturizing properties and the inclusion. With the inclusion of avocado oil, your skin will be feeling silky, nourished and hydrated.

Making this massage lotion is extremely simple and you can chose any scent you like. I went with a citrus bliss as I find citrus extremely calming and uplifting. Experiment and play around with which scent you like best.

You can either keep this massage oil in an oil form by keeping it in a warm place, or allow it to become a solid lotion by placing somewhere cool.

Ingredients to Make Massage Lotion

Tip: You will need to alter the amount of scented drops you use depending on the brand and quality of your essential oils. Do NOT go lay on sheets directly after applying oil. Pure oils like coconut and avocado will stain. Let the oil absorb into your skin first

How to Make Citrus Massage Lotion

Combine all ingredients except scented oils in a jar. Place the jar in a small pot of water (only about 2 inches high) and bring to a rolling boil. Make sure not to get any water into the mixture as it causes it to mold.

Let your ingredients melt together. Ensure they are completely melted and mixed (especially the beeswax) before removing from heat. Wait one minute for cooling then poor into desired containers and add essential oils.

Leave the lotion to set (and firm up) for 2-12 hours before using.

Tip: Keep the oil version in a warm place. Remember that coconut oil solidifies at room temperature. So if your oil is placed somewhere cold it will get slightly solid.
