Pumpkin Spice Scones Recipe
Ella comes by her love of pumpkin spice honestly — she gets it straight from my mom. I wanted to make my mom a bit of a thank you present recently, so I whipped up these pumpkin spice scones as a special treat.
Pumpkin Spice Scones Recipe
I love getting to stay home with my daughter while running our home preschool, but sometimes it does make things a bit difficult – like getting the car detailed. Most mechanics in our city are only open during the same business hours as me, and I only have 3 hours in between the end of the business day and Ella’s bedtime to balance any errands, supper, and our bedtime routine.
Getting the car detailed isn’t impossible, but it was definitely low on the priority list… as my mom seemed to have noticed! She surprised me by stopping by, parking her car, and taking mine out for a thorough vacuum and wipe down. She even cleaned the windows!
Of course, I needed to say thank you — and what better way to thank someone for their thoughtfulness than to bake them a batch of delicious baked goods?
The recipe for these pumpkin spice scones is very similar to my apple butter scones recipe. It has a light pumpkin flavour and you can adjust the level of pumpkin spice to your personal preferences.
I like to add a bit of cream cheese drizzle on the top of mine, but my mom prefers hers plain.
You can also substitute the pumpkin puree with pumpkin butter, which is a real treat and gives the scones a deeper and almost caramelized pumpkin taste. Either way, these pumpkin spices scones are delicious!

How to Make Pumpkin Spice Scones
Preheat oven to 425F
Stir all dry ingredients together, set aside.
Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add in one egg at a time, then the 1/2 cup whipping cream, then the pumpkin puree and spices.
Add the dry mixture into the pumpkin mixture one cup at a time, being careful not to overmix.
Pour the mixture out onto a clean, floured surface and roll into a large circle, no more than 2″ thick.
Cut into “pizza slice” triangles, and then brush overtop with the 2 Tablespoons whipping cream. Sprinkle on additional pumpkin spice mix.
Bake on a lined baking sheet for 10-15 minutes until golden and scones have formed a hard crust.
Cool on a baking sheet and meanwhile make the cream cheese drizzle (if using) by simply mixing the ingredients together, and thinning out with milk until you reach your desired consistency.
You can pipe the glaze onto the scones, or drizzle on with a spoon.
